Children have the amazing ability to see clearly to the heart of a matter. As we grow into adulthood, we lose some of this ability as we learn to tiptoe around sensitive issues.

About a year and a half ago, Scott and I went on a bike trip to visit his mother. On the way, we stopped at his sister's house. While Scott was playing with his niece and nephew (Jessie and Tylr), Jenny took me aside and said, "I don't want to put any undue pressure on their relationship, but Jessie wants to know why she's not aunt Lynn yet." Even though I knew in my heart that Scott and Lynn were right for eachother, I wasn't consciously aware of that fact until I had it pointed out to me by a child.

So, I'd like to propose a toast. To Scott and Lynn: may they experience the depth of love for eachother - which Jessie has already seen - for the rest of their lives.
